Anthro Quickie Dressing Room Review 12/31

Hello everyone!  I know I said I'd post the rest of my reviews last night, but I had a terrible headache.  In fact, it ended up turning into an awful migraine and I stayed home from work today because I was so miserable.  My head was pounding, I felt nauseous, and had to keep the blinds shut all day as any light just makes my migraines worse.  Anyone who's ever had a migraine can relate, I'm sure.  It's the worst and I wouldn't wish this upon anyone!  Thank goodness I'm finally feeling better.

I mentioned in my New Year's Day post that I was able to sneak away from my hubby for a little bit to go to Anthropologie on New Year's Eve.  It was less than a mile down the road from the hotel we were staying in, so I couldn't resist.  They had a great sale selection as well as several new dresses in stock.  I only had a little bit of time before I had to get back and get ready for our evening out, so I just grabbed a few things that caught my eye and headed to the dressing room.

Pond Reflections Dress - $168

I accidentally grabbed a size 14 (shown in the 2nd picture).  It was very lose, so I asked the SA to get a 12 for me (1st picture).  The 12 fit fine, but was still a little bit lose.  If I had more time, I would have tried the 10 just for reference.  But, this dress is supposed to be flowy so I think it fits TTS.  I love the drawstring waist, very nice silky material, and gorgeous print!  The length hit me mid-knee (I'm 5'7").  The only thing I didn't care for was the spaghetti straps...I think they make me look too wide up top.  However, that's nothing that a cute cardi can't fix!  I put the yellow J. Crew cardi on that I wore that day and I think it looked great.  I must admit, I was very tempted to buy this dress that very day.  But, the price is a little steep for me and I wouldn't even wear this for several months, so I resisted.  Definitely wishlisted for sale!

Off-The-Beat Dress - $128

This is definitely not something I'd typically be drawn to at Anthro.  However, I was feeling a little uncertain about my NYE outfit, so I thought I'd try on this little black dress for the heck of it.  I grabbed my usual size 12, but it was pretty tight.  The fabric is a very stiff, canvas-like material.  Due to the material and the form-fitting nature of the dress, it definitely was not very comfortable.  This dress was also too short for my liking, hitting about 2 inches above my knee.  I did like the v-neck, wider straps, and the unique buttons down the side, but this dress just isn't my style.

First Whisperings Dress - On sale for $89.99?, but sold out online

I'd seen many other reviews on this dress, but was never really drawn to it because I didn't think it'd be very flattering.  However, when I saw this dress on the sale rack I was compelled to try it on.  I love the soft colors and lovely pattern.  I like how it has long sleeves and the length was perfect hitting right above the knee.  Without a belt, it looks like a sack.  So, I put on the LOFT belt I was wearing that day.  It's not a very good belt with this dress, but I just wanted to give myself a waistline!  I really liked this dress, but passed because I didn't see myself getting much wear out of it.  To this day, I still wonder if I made a mistake by leaving this one behind :(

Bianka Blouse - $68 and Field Skirt - $78

I've been wanting to try on the infamous Bianka Blouse for a long time!  You know I already own the gold Field Skirt...I just grabbed it to have something to try on with this blouse.  I grabbed the navy Bianka blouse in a size 10 and it fit very well.  This is a size smaller than I'd normally wear, so I say this blouse may run slightly large.  I could have sized up to the 12 if I wanted a more flowy fit.  I love the silky feel to the material, the ruffle sleeves, and the drawstring neckline.  Wishlisted for sale!

And, here's what I came in wearing that day!  Except, I'm trying on the In For a Frill Cardigan (on sale for $39.95) in this photo.  I actually came in wearing this outfit with the yellow J. Crew cardi (hanging in the background & worn with the Pond Reflections Dress review).  I've reviewed this cardi before here and I ended up buying this In For a Frill Cardigan when it got a second cut last week.  I love the vintage lace detailing and the extremely soft fabric!  The color will go with a lot.  It's sold out online, but you'd probably be able to find one in store still!

Sale was so good that I had to be bad

Wow!  What an amazing sale today.  Totally wasn't expecting that right after the tag sale just ended.  Many things on my wish list went on sale.  It was a VERY lucky sale day for me (but not necessarily for my wallet) because of 2 pop backs, 1 second cut item, and being able to locate the cardi I've been waiting for even though it's sold out online.  Without further ado, here are my sale scores!!!

 Macchiato Jumper $69.95 (was $148)  I've been wanting to see this in person, but neither of my stores had it.  After seeing Roxy's review I decided it was worth checking out whenever it went on sale.  It seems like a fairly recent dress so I was shocked to see it on sale this morning.  My wish list only showed 1 in my size so I scooped it up.  Definitely an impulse buy, but I figure the worse case scenario is that I don't like it and then I have an excuse to make a trip to my nearest Anthro so it can be returned :)

 In For A Frill Cardigan  - now $39.95 (was on sale for $79.95; original price was $128!)  This was my lucky 2nd cut item.  It doesn't seem to be a very popular sweater (hence the 2nd cut so soon after it went on sale the first time), but I really really like it.  It's very vintage and feminine and will go with a lot.  Definitely not worth full price or the first sale price, but for $40 I decided it deserved a place in my closet.

 Darjeeling Skirt - $69.95 (was $128)  This is an online exclusive.  It's currently sold out online, but if you're interested I suggest checking for pop backs.  This has been on my wish list for a long time now...in fact, I almost caved and bought it several times.  Then it sold out in my size awhile ago.  When I saw Tara from Little Girl Big Closet looking fab in it, I starting kicking myself for not getting it while I had the chance.  Then today a miracle happened.  I was checking my wish list to see what went on sale, and there was a pop back in my size!!!  I immediately added it to my cart before it disappeared.  I like to think it was fate.  Amazing how an Anthro pop back can totally make my day!

 Beaded Eglantine Cardigan - $69.95 (was $128)  I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this pretty cardi to go on sale.  It's been sold out in my size for a while now and the past couple times I've been to the store they didn't have my size either.  So, I was doubtful that I'd ever get my hands on it.  I decided to call CS late this afternoon to try my luck.  At first it didn't look good....the guy said most stores were showing either 0 or 1 and that it was unlikely they would have it.  Then he found one store that the computer showed as having 2.  I called and they had it!  Horray! :)

Into The Woods Necklace - $19.95 (was $38)  This is not a new sale item.  It's been on sale and sold out online for a while.  However, when I spotted the pop back today I figured "what the hell!" and picked this up as well!

It may not seem like I showed much restraint during this sale, but there were several other items (such as the Refined Cord Shirtdress & Bowtied Beauty Boots) that I really wanted but resisted.

So, did any of you have any lucky pop backs or track something down in store today?  I'm dying to know what everyone else picked up from this amazing sale!

First Anthro Dressing Room Review Ever!

Since I had Monday off, I took a road trip to the closest Anthropologie.  I spent over 2 hours looking around and trying things on (is that normal??).  All of a sudden I realized that the time on my parking meter had probably long run out, so I left and put more money in and then came back!!  Wow.  Anyway, here are a few dressing room reviews.  Please excuse my subpar photos.  Guess I need more practice taking good pictures in the mirror (or a new camera!).

Awaiting Wings Dress - $158

I never really noticed this dress online before, but it caught my eye in the store.  I really like the colorful pattern and ruffling v-neck of the top blouse part.  I like the fact that the skirt part is navy - I think it would go so well with so many cardigans. 

I normally wear a dress size 12 or 14.  This is a size 14 and it was definitely too big!  It wasn't fitted enough on top and it hung down way too far under my armpits.  It buldged out too much around the hips.  Unfortunately, the store was out of both size 10 and 12, so I couldn't see if those would work better.  I do love the pencil skirt shape of the bottom of the dress and the pockets of course!  The length hit me just below the knee....I imagine that in the right size it may be a little shorter.  Wish I could have tried this on in a smaller size, but I'm still wishlisting this to consider come sale time!  I personally don't think this one is worth full price.

Hellebore Sweater Skirt - $118
There have already been many reviews of this skirt in the blogging world.  So, I will just second what everyone has said.  It does run large, so size down on this one.  The color is not quite as mustard yellow in real life as it appears online.  It's more of a neutral yellow with a brownish tint.  The length is also shorter than it appears online.  It hit me just above the knee. 
I originally ordered this online in a large (see first 2 pics).  It was just too wide and bunched out too much on the sides (totally NOT flattering). 

I didn't want to give up on this skirt, so I tried on the medium in the store and it fit MUCH better.  However, I didn't love it enough for the price so I returned it.  I'll reconsider the size medium if it goes on sale.  Especially because I think it looks cute with the next two cardis I tried on......

Beaded Eglantine Cardigan - $128
I'm a sucker for cardigans and this one is no exception.  Tried on the "dark grey" (which is definitely more taupe/tan in person) in a size large.  It was pretty tight in the arms and across my chest and it is also semi-cropped, so I would size up in this one for a more comfortable fit.  LOVE the neutral color and the gorgeous chiffon flowers with beads.  If this were slightly less expensive, I'd scoop it up now.  But I don't LOVE it enough to bear the $128 price tag.  I'll be a good girl and wait impatiently for sale time.

In For A Frill Cardigan - $128
Why, oh why, do I have to fall for the "over $100" cardis?!?  This is such a pretty cardigan with feminine details.  I love the lacey v-neck trim and color.  So sophisticated chic!  The crocheted v-pattern is also in the back (see my awkward shot trying to capture the back detail, lol!)  The gorgeous cream color would go with everything!  This sweater runs TTS, even a little small.  The large fit me comfortably.  The medium also works, but is just a little more fitted.  The fabric is SOOO soft and comfortable!  Not at all itchy.  My only complaint is that it's slightly see through (you can see my brown cami underneath)...nothing a nude colored cami underneath couldn't fix or a cute shirt underneath that you want to show!  Wishlisted for sale so I'll just have to try and be patient.  *Sigh* I heart pretty cardigans.

Steamed Cappuccino Cardi - $98
I've been admiring this online for a long time now, so I was thrilled to see they had it at my store.  I grabbed the moss in a size large.  It is a lightweight cotton material.  It fit TTS.........however, I was severely disappointed in how it looked on me in real life.  Yuck!  It flairs out at the bottom and made my hips look extremely wide.  I usually adore ruffles, but they were just too much paired with the thin stripes and didn't do anything for me.  I didn't get a picture of the back, but the ruffles gather together with elastic pleats and looked terrible on me!  This was immediately taken off my wishlist, but perhaps it would flatter someone else.  I'm thinking it may look cute on a more petite gal?

Talavera Cardigan - $60 (on sale & no longer available online)
A cardi I'd never paid attention to online, but in real life it's wonderful!  Very colorful and flattering.  It runs large, so I'd recommend sizing down.  The medium fit me perfectly.  When I was there on Monday, this was not on sale so I passed on it.  If I had know it would go on sale the very next day I probably would have bought it!

Oh well, at least I scored this on sale :)
Dwarf Quince Cardigan - $49.95 (no longer available online)
This lovely cardigan went on sale a couple weeks ago.  I waited too long to order and all of a sudden it was sold out!  I couldn't stop thinking about it and luckily my store still had some in the sale section.  I'd never tried it on before and I was thrilled to see how lovely it was in real life!  Needless to say, I took this home with me :)
I feel so pretty in this.  The floral print is so pretty & vintage and the tiny traces of gold in it make it so chic.  I'd highly recommend checking your local store's sale section for this beauty!  Can't wait to wear it!
