OOTD: New Boden Skirt

I recently ordered a couple of skirts from Boden during a 25% off + free shipping promo.  Today I decided to debut one of them along with a top and cardi I picked up at the LOFT outlet a couple weeks ago.  I must say, I really like the way this outfit came together!  However, after sitting in my hot office all afternoon the linen skirt sure did turn into a wrinkly mess.  Oh well, that's just part of my love/hate relationship with linen I guess!
I highly recommend this skirt.  It comes in several pretty summer colors, is lined, and has nice deep pockets.  I like that Boden skirts are available in regular or long lengths.  This is supposed to be an above the knee skirt in the regular length, but I ordered the long so it would be more work appropriate.

Top & Cardigan: LOFT Outlet
Shoes: Naturalizer Brown Linen Espadrilles

I'm obsessed with this belt.  So much so that I just ordered another one (in the other color scheme) today!  It's so comfortable and goes with almost everything.  Plus, it's reversible!  This side is a light tan and the other is a minty green.  It's on sale and still available online - I highly recommend it!

Quickie: Anthro Fitting Room Review

On our way home from our visit to Cleveland I convinced my husband to let me stop at Anthropologie because I had several returns to make.  He went next door to do a little shopping of his own, so I had time to try a few things on from my wishlist.  I was a good girl and didn't buy anything!  Thank goodness, because by the sounds of it there is going to be a big sale tomorrow with an additional 25% off all sale items!

Readymade Dress - $128

This is a size 12.  It fit pretty well, except the waist is a little snug.  I really like how casual and easy this dress is.  It would be perfect for those days you don't feel like putting together an outfit - just throw this on with some cute sandals and go!  Both the upper cotton fabric and the chambray are sooooo soft.  The length was also great hitting just above my knees.  There is a hidden side zipper with an inner button-loop closure at the waist.  I don't usually wear horizontal stripes for fear of looking even wider than I am.  As much as I like this dress and it would be perfect for summer, I'll really have to think about this one since I'm not sold on the red/white striped top part.  If the blouse part was a solid color or a different print, I probably would have bought it on the spot.

 Gauzy Tiers Skirt - $68
I'd never really noticed this online before, but decided to give it a shot when I saw it in the store.  After all, I'm looking to add more casual skirts to my wardrobe for summer.  This is a size large and fit well, so I'd say it runs true to size.  I think I'm wearing it lower on my waist than it's meant to be..... I did this to make the length right on me.  If I'd worn it up any higher, the length would be too short for my comfort.  The red color is a nice orange/red shade and the fabric is cool and comfortable.  However, I don't care for the tiers - the horizontal "stripes" make me look wider.  Also, this skirt really isn't anything too special.....I've seen similar skirts for much cheaper other places.  A pass for me.

 Bette Cardigan - $68
Grabbed this on a whim since I'm a cardigan addict and would like to add more short sleeved cardis to my collection.  I really like the light blue shade, but it also comes in grey, white and an orangey-red.  This is a size large and seemed to fit true to size.  It is slightly cropped and the sleeves are elbow length.  The fabric is very soft and comfortable.  Although this is a nice cardi, it's really nothing out of the ordinary.  So, I wouldn't pay full price for it.  I'll reconsider come sale time
.
 Heartsease Habotai Blouse - $98
This blouse has been on my wishlist for quite some time.  I love the bright colors in it!  I normally wear a size 10 or 12 in blouses.  This is a size 12 and was actually a little snug in the bust.  There is elastic in the waist and then it flares out.  However, the flaired part was even a little tight around my hips.  So, I'd say this blouse may run a little small, especially if you have a larger bust and/or hips.  The v-neck is really deep, so I'd definitely have to wear a cami underneath.  Also, the bottom portion is slightly see through so again, it would need to be worn with something underneath.  I love the flutter sleeves.  The material is stiffer than I was expecting considering it is silk.  Overall, a very pretty top but not perfect enough to justify the steep price.  I will keep this on my wishlist to reconsider come sale time though.

 Shape Suggestions Skirt - $78
After reading reviews of this skirt online, I knew it ran big so I grabbed a size medium (shown above).  It was still huge on me!  The elastic band is really loose.  So, I asked the SA to get me a size small (pictured below) and it fit a little better, but was still loose in the waist.  So, obviously this skirt really does run big.  I'd suggest sizing down at least 1 and maybe even 2 sizes.  Although this skirt is an odd length, I really like the flowy material, deep pockets, and the beautiful print.  I didn't see the blue print of this skirt until my way out.  It was also really vibrant and pretty...wish I would have tried it on too!  I think this skirt would be perfect to throw on during the summer for errands or even lounging around on hot days.  I'm planning to order this in both colors when they hit sale.  I may even have my mother-in-law hem them a few inches to make the length more flattering on me.

Happy sale shopping tomorrow, everyone!!!

30 in 6!!! *gulp*

It suddenly hit me about two weeks ago.  I was lounging around waiting for my husband to get home from work while watching some quality shows that I'd DVRed.  Okay, I admit, it was Real Housewives of Orange County.....my guilty pleasure.  ANYWAY, it hit me that.....{drum roll please} *gulp*, I turn 30 in exactly 6 months from June 2nd.  And....*double gulp*, June 2nd sure is coming up quick!

At that time I started thinking about how I really am kind of nervous about turning 30.  I know it's not a huge deal... Afterall, my husband and all of our friend's (by his association) are alreay 30 and I still think they're cool enough to hang out with :)  But, I'm the very first of my closest group of friends to turn 30, so I guess I don't have one of my girlfriends to assure me that she, indeed, did not wake up as a boring old hag on her 30th birthday.  I guess you could say I'm the guinea pig for my best friends....and hopefully I survive to assure them that they, too, will make it through their 30th.

I got to thinking and realized that there are some things I'd like to improve about myself before I turn 30.  Maybe, just maybe, if I set my mind to it and work hard towards these goals it will make turning 30 that much less painful.  I just keep thinking....it sure would be nice to look and feel your best at 30 (or at least be well on your way towards it).

I want to share a couple of my "accomplish before 30" goals with you all, but it will have to be next week.  I have to run right now so I can pack up and get some sleep.  My husband and I are leaving first thing in the morning to go to the Cleveland area for the weekend.  We're going to visit my parents and then go to a concert tomorrow night.  Should be a fun time!  Have a wonderful weekend readers!

P.S. - I planned to post this entry yesterday, on the exact 6 month commencement of the dreaded countdown to 30, but I had some unexpected car problems last night.  Translation: stranded in the parking lot of the salon for almost an hour because my car won't start (and no, it's not an easy battery-jumping fix) waiting for the tow truck.  Blah!  Why do car problems always occur at the worst possible times?!?  It is what it is, I guess.  They did fix it quickly today and it wasn't that expensive of a repair...definitely could have been way worse *knock on wood*!  The point is, by the time my husband and I finally got home last night, I had forgotten all about my "Official 6-month Countdown 'til 30"!  Guess I'm a day behind schedule.....maybe I can just push my birthday back to make up for it?!

El Scorcho: Yesterday's OOTD

Hi everyone!  Wow, yesterday sure was a scorcher!  It got into the mid-90s.  Ick!  I complain when it's too cold and I complain when it's too hot.  The weather just can't please me!  Today was only in the low 70s and sunny....I actually would have been completely pleased if it weren't for the darn wind!  It's really strong today!  Oh well, we'll try again tomorrow for the perfect day....it's supposed to be low 70s without as much wind, yay!  If only it would stay that way all summer........

Anyway, enough rambling about the weather!  Here's my outfit of the day from yesterday.  It was so cool and comfortable.  I absolutely love this jersey knit dress from LOFT outlet....but you probably already know that since I just posted an OOTD with it a few posts ago.  I must say, I definitely like this styling much better than my last attempt!

Anthropologie Pond Reflections Dress - Styling Ideas

I really liked the Pond Reflections Dress way back when I first tried it on on New Year's Eve!  When it finally went on sale, I had recently purchased several other dresses so I decided to let it go.  This weekend I noticed there was a pop back of my size.  I went back and forth about whether to pull the trigger and get it while I had the second chance.  While doing so, I brainstormed some ideas of how to style it......

Well, after playing around on Polyvore I realized just how versatile this dress really is.  The colors in the dress are so pretty together and go with so much!  Yep, I scooped up the pop back while I still could knowing that I would probably regret it otherwise.  I'm thinking about using the first styling option to wear to my friend's "dressy casual" wedding reception in a few weeks.
