Second time's a charm

For my OOTD, I wore a shirt and necklace that have only been worn once before (and never paired together either).  I was drawn to this green top last spring not only because of the color (I LOVE green!) but because of the unique floral/swirl embroidery on the front and back of it.  I wore it once right after I got it and then it got lost in my closet!  I stumbled upon it this week and decided it was about time this top was paired with a cardi.  I can't believe I haven't worn this necklace more often either...it has tons of colors in it and could be paired with so much.  A closet/ jewelry box re-organization is much needed in the near future so I can take inventory of what I have and start doing some remixing!

Even though I didn't have to work on Monday, this week has seemed to drag on.  I've been exhausted all day and I can't wait to crawl in bed!!  Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday :)  Perhaps I'll attempt a closet clean out/ organization this weekend.  It's been a while since I've tackled this and my closet is a disaster.  Any advice of where to begin???

Plaid with daisy chains or dotty clusters?!

Who would have thought that the most difficult decision I had to make today was chosing which pair of tights to wear with my outfit?!  They're my two favorite pair of tights so I guess I couldn't go wrong either way.  Which do you think look better with the plaid shirt, plaid flats, field skirt combo?

I bought the grey version of the Field Skirt long before I got the gold one.  The gold is way different and way better in my opinion.  It's a much thicker and more structured fabric than the grey which makes it hang better and poof less.  Oh well, I still do like the grey version...it goes with a lot and the lighter weight fabric will make it easier to wear in warmer weather.

Sale was so good that I had to be bad

Wow!  What an amazing sale today.  Totally wasn't expecting that right after the tag sale just ended.  Many things on my wish list went on sale.  It was a VERY lucky sale day for me (but not necessarily for my wallet) because of 2 pop backs, 1 second cut item, and being able to locate the cardi I've been waiting for even though it's sold out online.  Without further ado, here are my sale scores!!!

 Macchiato Jumper $69.95 (was $148)  I've been wanting to see this in person, but neither of my stores had it.  After seeing Roxy's review I decided it was worth checking out whenever it went on sale.  It seems like a fairly recent dress so I was shocked to see it on sale this morning.  My wish list only showed 1 in my size so I scooped it up.  Definitely an impulse buy, but I figure the worse case scenario is that I don't like it and then I have an excuse to make a trip to my nearest Anthro so it can be returned :)

 In For A Frill Cardigan  - now $39.95 (was on sale for $79.95; original price was $128!)  This was my lucky 2nd cut item.  It doesn't seem to be a very popular sweater (hence the 2nd cut so soon after it went on sale the first time), but I really really like it.  It's very vintage and feminine and will go with a lot.  Definitely not worth full price or the first sale price, but for $40 I decided it deserved a place in my closet.

 Darjeeling Skirt - $69.95 (was $128)  This is an online exclusive.  It's currently sold out online, but if you're interested I suggest checking for pop backs.  This has been on my wish list for a long time now...in fact, I almost caved and bought it several times.  Then it sold out in my size awhile ago.  When I saw Tara from Little Girl Big Closet looking fab in it, I starting kicking myself for not getting it while I had the chance.  Then today a miracle happened.  I was checking my wish list to see what went on sale, and there was a pop back in my size!!!  I immediately added it to my cart before it disappeared.  I like to think it was fate.  Amazing how an Anthro pop back can totally make my day!

 Beaded Eglantine Cardigan - $69.95 (was $128)  I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this pretty cardi to go on sale.  It's been sold out in my size for a while now and the past couple times I've been to the store they didn't have my size either.  So, I was doubtful that I'd ever get my hands on it.  I decided to call CS late this afternoon to try my luck.  At first it didn't look good....the guy said most stores were showing either 0 or 1 and that it was unlikely they would have it.  Then he found one store that the computer showed as having 2.  I called and they had it!  Horray! :)

Into The Woods Necklace - $19.95 (was $38)  This is not a new sale item.  It's been on sale and sold out online for a while.  However, when I spotted the pop back today I figured "what the hell!" and picked this up as well!

It may not seem like I showed much restraint during this sale, but there were several other items (such as the Refined Cord Shirtdress & Bowtied Beauty Boots) that I really wanted but resisted.

So, did any of you have any lucky pop backs or track something down in store today?  I'm dying to know what everyone else picked up from this amazing sale!

Anthropologie Necklace Reviews: Size Matters!

I mentioned in my post from yesterday that I used my birthday discount online right before free shipping ended.  There were several necklaces I'd been admiring and since they were all on sale that week, I decided to use my 10% off on top of that and get all 3 of them.  Sadly, only 1 of the 3 was worth keeping.....

1) Looking Glass Necklace - on sale for $29.95 (still available in stores)

The online picture drew me in because of this necklace's unique vintage flair.  However, I did not like it at all in person because the mirror pendant was WAY bigger than I expected.  The quality was also much cheaper than expected.  Although the bigger side flower pendant was nice quality, the 3 smaller charms near the bottom were lightweight plastic.  The rhinestone chain was just too much "bling" in my opinion and was a poor quality that I could see breaking easily.  Back it went.







2.  Cyclades Cinquefoil Necklace - $38

I noticed this as soon as it was a new arrival because of the photo on Anthro's home page.  Fell in love with the picture and added it to my wishlist.  The green version immediately became "out of stock" after like 2 days!  I was SO disappointed....so as soon as I saw it pop back I bought it!  That was a mistake because the pendant was gigantic.  The monsterous size is the only thing I didn't like.  The flower is gorgeous with the smooth agate petals surrounding lace and small colored beads in the middle.  Sadly, I had to return this because I looked like a freak with something this large hanging around my neck.  It's just not me, but if extremely large pendants (4+ inch diameter) are your style then I highly recommend this one!

3.  Crumpled Rainbow Necklace - $48

Fell in love with this because of all the colors!!  I was worried it would be too big for my taste, but when I got it I really liked it!  Yes, it's a bigger piece than I normally wear, but it's unique enough to justify keeping and I think it will go with a lot.  I'm especially looking forward to wearing it this spring and summer because of the pastel colors.  I think it looks great paired with neutral colored clothing to give your outfit a pop!


Is it just me, or has anyone else expected jewelry to be completely different based on the online stock photo???  I know most jewelry descriptions give dimensions, but I guess I just can't visualize very well, haha! 

Field Skirting around

Hello!  It's a blah Sunday for most people having to go back to work tomorrow after the holiday vacation.  But not me! (sorry to rub it in....)  I'm lucky enough that I only have to work 4 days per week for my job and I chose to have Mondays off.  It has made Sundays so much more enjoyable for me this year (I used to HATE them!).  Going to work on Tuesday is much easier after having had a 3 day weekend and knowing I only have a 4-day work week.  It's even more appreciated after a 1.5 week holiday break that I don't want to end!
Today we got together with my husband's side of the family for his aunt's birthday.  We had a nice relaxing afternoon eating some yummy soup and chili, playing cards (Pass the Ace is the family favorite), and having some laughs.  I decided to wear my gold Field Skirt because I'm obsessed with it!  After constantly admiring this skirt online for several weeks, I caved in and bought it with my birthday discount before free shipping ended.  I also bought the Daisy Chain tights in wine.  SO happy that I did because these two pieces have become my new wardrobe favs!  I've worn the skirt 3 times and the tights 5 times already since getting them only 2 weeks ago.
My camera batteries were dead so I couldn't get any shots of my entire outfit today, but I thought I'd share some shots I took when I first got the skirt in the mail.  My outfit today was exactly the same except I wore my new green Rippled Ridge Henley instead of the white tank.  Please excuse the horrible lighting and mirror shots....I was (and still am once I get new batteries) practicing my outfit photo skills.  I loved this skirt so much when I first tried it on that I didn't want to take it off!!!

Bloggin' in the New Year

Happy New Year readers!  I hope you had a fantastic night ringing in 2011.  I haven't really declared any official New Year's resolutions yet, but I'm thinking one of them will be to get into this whole blogging thing whole heartedly.  I just haven't gotten in the grove since I began this blog in late October....I now realize that blogging is hard work and takes up a lot of time.  I have a newfound respect for all my fav bloggers out there that update daily!  I'm not promising daily posts quite yet, but at least a few times per week!  I've been to Anthropologie twice in the past 2 weeks, so I have some dressing room reviews coming up and some reviews on recent Anthro purchases I've made so stay tuned.

For New Year's Eve my husband and I went to Bar Louie with two other couples.  Not just any couples, they were two of my closest high school friends and their husband/boyfriend.  Hubby and I got to the hotel earlier than everyone else.  He was tired from the drive and since Anthropologie was only a mile down the road, I ditched him let him take a nap and I went shopping for a little bit!!  (Reviews to come soon, I promise.....)
When I got back, we all hung out at the hotel for a bit before taking a cab over to the bar.  The NYE package included a dinner buffet, open bar, and champagne toast at midnight.  I must say, the crowd was not what I was expecting...mostly people in their very early twenties, so it made us feel very old!  We didn't even know many of the songs the DJ was playing, haha!  When we requested some 90s songs (Sublime, Beck, etc.) the DJ agreed but announced "Hold on, these next few will take you back a ways."  We were the only ones singing along, lol.  And then when the DJ played some new rap song I've never heard before, the entire crowd sang along.  Oh well.  We still had a fun time hanging out together for the New Year.

My shoes are a purchase I made on Cyber Monday.  I'd been eyeing these for a while so I made an impulse buy when they were on sale that day.  So glad I did because I LOVE them and have worn them so much since I got them.  They are extremely comfy (like wearing tennis shoes...seriously!) and the heel height is just perfect for me.  I adore the flower detail on the toe and the fact that they are mary janes :)  Plus, this brand uses only all natural & recycled materials so they are eco-friendly too!

I was so happy when I found my belt at the Banana Republic outlet, because the flower detail matches the one on these shoes perfectly!!!  It's the little things in life that excite me the most :)

OOTD: First snowfall

Hi readers!  I have definitely been MIA for a while.  Still getting the hang of this whole blogging thing.....  Promise I'll try to do better so I can keep your interest :)
My casual Friday OOTD was inspired by the first snowfall of the season....at least the first snowfall where anything really stuck to the ground!  The white splotches on this blouse remind me of snowflakes and for some reason, pale blue always reminds me of snow and winter time in general.  Plus, I chose to wear a pair of Anthro earrings that are really flowers but also remind me of snowflakes because of the light blue center stones surrounded by glistening rhinestones.
